Indian team never suffered such a series of losses at home in the recent few decades. Loss in the test series against England was followed by ODI series loss against Pakistan. Ego is battered and all India need is a good convincing series win. This is the only thing that would be the biggest catalyst to bring back the glory to Indian cricket.
India vs England ODI Series begins with a bang as Rajkot hosts it and becomes another international venue for ODI cricket. Cheteshwar Pujara just hit a triple ton in Ranji trophy against Karnataka when he was already included in ODI squad. He replaces Virender Sehwag. He may get an opportunity to play on his local ground where he can show his heroics the way he showed in test series against England.
MS Dhoni is in a good form and he is proving his critics wrong by scoring better than the likes of Gambhir, Sachin and Sehwag in recent past. His captaincy is under a scanner and all he needs is some good support from the whole team. Raina has batted well along with Ashwin. Bowling wise India did a great job against Pakistan. We witness Shami, Bhuvaneshwar and Ishant making good use of slower deliveries and bouncers. Spinners were less effective but we may expect them doing a better job in ODI series against England.
England is led by a prolific run getter Mr. Cook. He spoiled India’s party after the first test match. He took away the test series and now returns as a captain for ODI series. He has got his specialists for ODI back in the team viz. Bell, Morgan, Bresnan, Finn, Pietersen, etc. England lost both its warm up matches and they would be eager to get back to their winning ways soon.
