Otherwise their bowlers have been consistent and they would like to do some heroics against Bangladesh in the finals.

Mirpur track promises to be a high scoring match which implies we might see loads of runs flowing from the bats of Virat Kohli, Sachin, Gambhir, Raina, Dhoni, Misbah, Afridi, Younis Khan and many more. Bowlers may have a hard time again on this flat track.

Indians have got good starts and they have also scored well in the death overs. But the batsmen seem to be over cautious in the middle overs slowing down the run rate to a large extent. That prevents them to score big enough to pressurise the opposition on the flat pitch. Bowling continues to be a worry for India where none of the bowlers viz. Pathan, Kumar, Ashwin, etc prove to be fatal to the batsmen.

Pitch would be slow as the game moves on till the end. Spinners haven’t been very successful so far so they will have to put extra efforts on this pitch. Asia Cup 2012 moves onto its 3rd match where two heavyweights collide at Mirpur. Pakistan with a win over Bangladesh now take on Srilanka. One loss here can diminish an opportunity for either of the teams to reach the finals. So both the teams would battle it out as a must win match.

Pakistan’s win over Bangladesh was a narrow one and they weren’t impressive upto the mark. Pakistan badly needs to strike consistency if they have to be favourites to win this Asia Cup. Hafeez and Jamshed provided a perfect launch to Pakistani innings but the middle order spoiled the party. Thanks to some lusty shots from Umar Gul that Pakistan managed a respectable score. Even their bowling is good in patches. They leaked lot of runs in the middle overs but bounced back well in the death overs to clean up the tail of Bangladesh.

Meanwhile Srilanka has just returned from a not so bad tour to Australia where they made it into the finals of CB Series but couldn’t manage to win it. They played their Asia Cup 2012 opener against India and lost by 50 runs. Jayawardene and Dilshan gave a quick start but none of the Lankan batsmen really settled down to score big. Bowling department badly missed Lasith Malinga and hopefully he would soon be fit to play matches in this Asia Cup.

Going by the two matches played so far, batsmen would certainly enjoy batting on this pitch and bowlers would find some assistance under the lights.
